The Saint James Players of Montclair, NJ seeks a director for the troupe’s production of a Shakespeare play (to be determined), likely to be performed across one or two weekends in September, 2017. The SJP, which performs in the historic sanctuary of Saint James Church in Montclair, is in its sixth year of providing free Shakespeare to the Northern New Jersey community. The 2016 production of Macbeth (which drew more than 500 people across a weekend of four performances) included a cast of 25 and a crew of six, ranging in age from eight to eighty and spanning levels of experience from established Equity actors to first-time performers. The SJP operates under the guidance of a board of directors, which works with the director to determine play selection, as well as providing counsel regarding the casting process. This non-compensated position requires the commitment of at least two nights per week during the rehearsal process.
More information can be found at the troupe’s website: stjamesplayers.org. Interested persons should submit a cover letter and resume/CV by Jan. 1, 2017 to firstname.lastname@example.org. (Please feel free to use this email address if you have any questions about the position.)
